FEBRUARY 1, 2020 was a colorful day for a forest com

munity, 123 kms outside of the capital city Kampala.

Christopher Kamulegeya, Manager of Leprome Plantation Forest  in Kobga was joined by over a dozen colleagues to celebrate his graduation – a Bachelors in Forestry from Makerere University.

Joy was on everyone’s face as their long-serving manager marked another milestone in his career after years of sweat, on the plantation forest, and in class.

The celebration venue was his beloved forest that he has nurtured, that also marked 10 years of existence.

The colorful day started with Holy Mass conducted by Fr Ronaldo Ssevume, Parish Priest of St. Felista Parish in Kiboga.

In attendance were special guests from all walks of life in Kiboga – from Local Council chairpersons, workers, guests from Kampala and even across the border in Kenya. They were of-course joined by directors of Le Prome Forest, the Promises.

The Leprome Plantation Forest is a 200+ hectare forest investment in the middle of Uganda – 120 km north west of the capital Kampala.

It now has young mainly Pine trees 1 to 10 years old, but by the time the trees mature, the project will be a fully fledged eco-tourist centre providing lodging, playing parks, trekking and hill climbing.

It is the brain-child of Mr and Mrs, Ambrose Promise and Dr. Cathy Biira Promise who leased it from the Uganda Forest Authority. It is now fully reforested.
